An Emotional Day

Today has been a very emotional day for us both, firstly Sharon had her last day at work and what a fabulous send off they gave her. Loads of her clients came and there carers, she had a farewell buffet and then Sharon was given her leaving cards and gifts and an absolutely fantastic cake its all hand painted and looks good enough to hang on a wall.
It will be very difficult to cut in to it but we know it will taste as good as it look's.

                                             THE CAKE & BUNS

Today was also the last day we would spend time with our dear little grandson Hudson.
we normally see Hudson Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening's when he stays over but as we start our adventure next week we won't be seeing him. Lots of tears from both of us but we will be skyping our Justin and Hudson weekly. Justin and Hudson will visit us when they can.

We are taking some more stuff down to Tacet this weekend and will be moved in on Tuesday morning and heading of on our adventure the next day.

SO VERY EXCITED

It's all coming together

Well on Thursday 12th we had John from John's Boat Canopies down to make a template of are cratch cover. What a very helpful chap he is, he gave me quite a few options on how the cratch could be made and without my trusty wife beside me I  had to make some executive decisions (hope they are the right ones)  around the design all by myself.

We have just got to wait for John to make it and fit it for us, it does not matter if it's not done before we leave the Marina as John will fit it anywhere as long as he can get his car near.

I took our friend Roger down to help with a couple of jobs on-board. First job was to put together the Futon sofa bed. This did not take long as it only came in 2 section's, along  with a few other bits to fit on it. I am very pleased with the futon it fits perfectly.

Today we moved more of  our stuff aboard and started to fit the curtains are friend Louise had made for use.

We are only 9 days away from starting our life aboard Tacet. Eddy has told us he is looking forward to writing his next blog.

3 Weeks Till The Off

Well we are still counting down the days 21 in fact before the off.
We have got most things packed now and we are in the process of moving what needs to be moved.
I can report that the racing tortoises are all up and out of hibernation

I am going down to Tacet this Thursday and with luck and weather permitting will meet John from John's Boat Canopies who will be making a template for are cratch. John was at the Marina the last time we were up there and he gave me a very reasonable quote for a cratch cover. So hoping for a dry day The cratch we have is getting a bit old and leaks a lot so we need a new one.

We will be moving our stuff aboard over the next two weeks and I have a couple of small carpentry jobs to do. Sharon wants a few more shelf's in the Kitchen and I will be putting up the new curtains on Tacet that our dear friend Louise has made for us.
It's all so very exciting.

Eddy enjoying the sun, he loves to look out of the side hatch.

26 Days Before The Adventure Begins

Thank you Eddy for doing the first post you are a very clever cat.
Well the house is almost sorted and our youngest son will be moving in for the year.
He will be looking after our 4 racing tortoises for us !
We are looking forward to leading our life at the same pace as the tortoises moving along at 3mph and not having to race around like we have been doing.

Our planned route from are moorings at Kingfisher Marina is to head towards Birmingham on the Grand Union Canal and spend a little while there.
We will then head off and explore some of the BCN Main Line before joining the Shropshire Union Canal heading for the Llangollen Canal and a trip over the  Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

From there we will head back on to the Shropshire Union Canal and head towards Middlewich turning right and cruising down to Hardings Wood Junction, then on to the Macclesfield Canal then on to the Peak Forest Canal. On the way we plan to catch up with some friends who have moorings in New Mills.

We then think we will travel the Ashton Canal onto the Rochdale Canal then join the Leeds And Liverpool Canal and head on towards the Albert Docks in Liverpool for 7 days.

Then possibly returning to Kingfisher Marina at the end of our adventure aboard Tacet.
This is only a planned route we may stick to it and we may not, but one thing is for sure we will be using the title from another blogger Living the Dream.
